Burton Street Community Association
Community Youth Outreach Program

Overview

The Community Youth Outreach Program is an initiative of the Burton Street Community Association (BSCA) designed to engage, support, and empower youth through community-centered programming. The program prioritizes outreach initiatives and events that center and amplify diverse youth and the systems that support them.

The program will be implemented by a Community Youth Outreach Team consisting of youth within our community and contracted professionals with experience in youth development, family engagement, advocacy, and community relationship-building.

Youth between the ages of 5 and 25 are welcomed.

Please contact Kelly White at [email protected] for information.

You may also send an email to [email protected] and a Board Member will respond.

 Burton Street Community Center
Board Workshop

Monday, April 27th and Tuesday, April 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM
at the Burton Street Community Center.

Burton Street Community Association is looking for community members to join the Board and participate in supporting our community. We’d like to take this chance to invite you to a Board Workshop which will present the opportunity to learn how a nonprofit Board operates to serve the community.

Board membership: We are currently seeking applications for potential board members who are passionate about fostering connection, dialogue and community supportive  driven services. This is an opportunity to help guide the vision, sustainability, and impact of our community. As many know, we are a 100% volunteer-run organization, and our board is a working board. This means we’re directly involved in all aspects of the programming we offer the community. Board terms are for 2 years. Some of the base board responsibilities are as follows:

  • Attend monthly board meetings (3rd Tuesday of the month, 6-8 pm).
  • Attend Pre Board board meeting the 2nd Tuesday of the month(5:30 to 6:30 pm.
  • Participate in conversations reflecting the needs voiced by community within different settings
  • Committed to embracing our past while uplifting the future of our community
  • Individuals whose expertise and knowledge bring an overall lens supporting strategic  planning and system impacts to support our community

Burton Street Community Association welcomes the opportunity for community members interested to participate in a Board Workshop presented by Western North Carolina Pathways by Carolina McGready and Angelica Wind on Monday, April 27th and Tuesday, April 28th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Burton Street Community Center. The objective of the workshop is to present the overall reasoning, structure, roles and standards makeup the Governing System of a Non-Profit Board.
